Family Relationships

It is so important to have a strong relationship with all close family members. There is nothing more unsetling in a household than bad feeling and constant argument amongst the family.

This close relationship is immediately visible to anybody from outside looking in. think about it for a moment, think of families that you know, and immediately you can identify those that are really close and those that just happen to live under the same roof. if you know the family well ask them what makes them a close family? what do they do that you can copy?

The closeness of the family unit creates a 'safe haven' for all in that family, a place where the individual can relax after whatever the day has thrown at them. It also provides a 'forum' for individuals, and especially children to share their daily expericences. To talk about their worries and concerns and to ask for advice from a 'safe source' rather than opinion from the 'street'.

In our experience, a close family is one that does things togther. One that has a common interest, at least some of the time.

Pets of course often help to reinforce the family unit and family bond especially if all take interest and responsibility in the animal. At this point I should make it clear that we're not suggesting that you rush out and buy a cat or dog to ensure that you have a close family. You should be very very clear of the responsibility attached to having any animal, before entering into that commitment. That said, a dog can become an excellent way to teach children the discipline and responsibility of looking after another living animal.
